The Onion has come of age — it’s going to start charging an annual fee for access to premium services, according to report. The web site says for a $29.99 (US) subscription, you’ll get access to an ad-free Onion, personal homepages of columnists, exclusive U.S. election coverage, full access to the archives and downloadable radio news segments.

The Onion announces the premium service in its own fashion: And now for less than the price of a $30 cup of coffee, America’s Finest News Source is now available in a new, non-free form.

Access to the non-premium, ad-supported Onion site continues for less than the price of…well…nothing.
