Updated on April 25, 2009:

Reader Bill Greenburg has emailed me about soople, saying it is an attack site. When you Google soople, it now gives you a warning that the site that “this site may harm your computer.”

Jonathan Dube has tipped readers of his Poynter column Web Tips to a new way of taking advantage of Google’s advanced search functions.

Soople.com has a form-based interface that allows you to use as many — or as few — of Google’s advanced search features as you want. You can search the overall Internet or specific Web sites, limit your search to file formats (such as PDFs or PowerPoint files), seek definitions or translations and more. (There’s even a page of calculators to help you with math.)

All of these are available from the advanced search page at Google; Soople makes the task a little easier.
